Overall stack height is just as important as the general profile of your log. Log stack heights vary depending on
what company profiled the log, this is due to how the particular manufacturer acquires their timber. Some suppliers use
timber that is nominal sized, this timber has already been planed & dressed once and is typically sold to lumberyards as
construction materials. Manufacturers such as Lock-Tite have access to full sized timber that has not been milled and
dressed down to lumberyard stock can offer profiles with much more mass and stack height.
The advantage to a larger stack-height is that it takes less of a larger product to complete the job. A 6 1/2" log would
require 15 rows to achieve an 8' wall height while a 7 1/4" Log would only require 13 rows, depending on the size of the
home the distance around the home two more times could save you thousands.
